Do you want your milk in a bag?

Do I want my milk in a bag? Why do they ask that? Of course I want my milk in a bag. You put everything else in a bag, why not the milk? Perhaps you're lazy and don't want to bag one more item than you have to. Or you're trying to make it difficult for me to get my milk home. Perhaps next time I will say, "yes, I want my milk in a bag--a paper bag. That would be the most inconvenient way to transport my milk, don't you think?"

And while we're on the subject, what's with this new "Self Check-Out" business? I spend all this money buying groceries, and instead of serving me, you make me scan them myself? It's easy enough to scan the ones with barcodes, but what about bakery items, doughnuts and muffins? I don't know the codes for those. "Please wait for customer assistance, " the computer says. So the lady, from her supercomputer checkout mainframe, has to yell over, "What are those?" "Two doughnuts!" I wait for a few moments until the machine shouts at me, "Please place item in the bag." I guess there is an upside of self check-out: I get to put my milk in a bag myself.

We totally, absolutely agree. Thanks for expressing what we all feel every time we pull into the checkout line. In fact, I have recently decided to never, never use the self-checkout. Why should I do myself the job all the cashiers are paid to do?

I agree. I've always thought that was a funny question. I guess the milk already has a handle, so you could avoid carrying it in a bag if you wanted to. As for the self-checkout lanes, I only use them because the girls love to scan the items, but I only use them when I have very few things to buy.

Spence--I'm right with you. Of course I want my milk in two bags--do you think I want to chance dropping the whole gallon of milk (known to be done) because it slips from my hands and lands all over me? Put my milk in my bag! Hope all is well with you-- (Rachael Rowan)

Spence-
I totally agree. Of course I want my milk in two bags...I need my milk in two bags...otherwise, I take the chance of dropping the gallon and having it spill all over me (known to be done). Please put my milk in bags...thank you:)

In Canada, milk always comes in a bag. It is not available in a carton. Google it....you will see.
